FARM IN TROISTORRENTS
TROISTORRENTS - VS

Transformation and restoration of an 18th century farm in the Val D'Illiez. The farmhouse is built of rubble stone for the base and fir planks for the upper floors. The interior layout featured the stable at the back of the ground floor, the kitchen in the middle and the living rooms at the front. The first floor was occupied by the barn and hay storage, the space was crossed by the bollard (a pyramidal wooden chimney). The project maintains the through layout of the ground floor and the existing bedroom layout, as well as the barn volume. The Bollard is replaced by a contemporary element that functions as a light cannon that illuminates the dining room and creates a relationship between the ground floor and the first floor.

The ground floor and the first floor are structured by a box that houses the service areas (separate toilet, bathrooms, laundry room and staircase). The first floor is designed as a loft, the bedroom and bathroom can be privatized by sliding walls, the spaces are illuminated by large skylights pierced in the roof.
